Many moons ago I was tasked with creating cocktails for Club Orange, Club Lemon and Cidona. Once I got over the overwhelming sense of nostalgia, mixing up these iconic Irish soft drinks into boozy delights quickly became a labour of love.
Makes 1
50ml Irish gin (try Drumshanbo Gunpowder, Dingle or Method and Madness)½ tablespoon caster sugar
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tablespoon hot water
2 tablespoons cream
1 tablespoon egg white
3–4 ice cubes
100ml Club Orange soda
orange wedge, to garnish
Pour the gin, sugar, lemon juice and hot water into a NutriBullet or blender. Blitz to combine, then add the cream, egg white and ice cubes. Blitz for 20 seconds.
Pour into a long Collins or slim jim glass and slowly top it up with the Club Orange. Garnish with an orange wedge on the rim of the glass and serve with a straw.
